Meet Sophie
20 NOV 2024
After moving from France in 2010, Sophie knew it would be difficult being so far from way from family. It has been especially hard these past years with Sophie’s mother’s ongoing health problems.
It breaks my heart to think that she is so far away and that I cannot visit her.
Sophie’s dream is to go back to France and be with her mum while she can. She knows that her stay will benefit herself and her mum in more ways than one.
When I visited her in the past, she felt better and smiled and spoke more. I know that she misses me. To be able to go there for a couple of months would give me the chance to keep her company and spend precious time with her.
After leaving a long teaching career due to the symptoms of her MS making managing a classroom no longer possible, Sophie has decided to change careers and go back to school.
Unfortunately, between studying and managing her MS symptoms, Sophie has been unable to work full time, making saving for a long, overseas trip almost impossible. Winning the MS Go for Gold Scholarship means that Sophie can visit her mother and her family and spend invaluable time with them.
As a fellow swimming lover, Sophie would like to thank everyone who takes on the MS Mega Challenge and raises funds for the Go for Gold Scholarship and other MS Plus services:
Thank you so much for swimming for us! Thanks to fundraising, MS Plus is the organisation I turn to for free, confidential help. MS is a difficult condition to describe because it is neurological. MS Plus is the best place to ask specific questions.
